This is a US Army issue Colt Model of 1911, commonly known as the M1911-A1. It is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed, recoil-operated pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge, and the firearm which served as the standard-issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1986. A grip safety, sear disconnect, slide stop, half cock position, and manual safety (located on the left rear of the frame) are all standard. The serial number on this example places its year of manufacture as 1913, likely placing it in service during WWI. It also is stamped “AA”, indicating that it came through the Augusta Arsenal in Georgia. This pistol has obviously been re-blued at some point, and is in generally fair condition given its age. It appears perfectly functional, and there is one magazine included.
